Wireless Support: WI-FI calling and SMS

Charles Sturt University has no direct control over the quality or signal strength of the cellular networks (LTE, 4G, or 5G) of your mobile telephone provider such as Telstra, Optus, or Vodaphone.
This is not a service provided or supported by CSU and is provided to you under contract by your mobile phone carrier.

However in areas of poor cellular network coverage WI-FI calling may assist you to make and receive phone calls and to recieve and send SMS messages.
WI-FI calling is an option available on most modern smartphones, and instead of using the cellular carrier network that you subscribe to, it uses the internet via a connected wireless network to connect your calls.
For on campus Staff and Students this network is eduroam

Using eduroam for WI-FI calling may help in areas of poor reception and is a way that CSU can assist with the problem of cellular telephone coverage.

For the best possible experience ensure that you have a good connection to eduroam, and do not move around while making a call.
